|1/4||teaspoon salt (optional)|
|1/4||teaspoon grated orange peel|
|Dash black pepper|
|Dash ground allspice|
|1||can (16 ounces) sliced beets, drained and 1/3 cup liquid reserved|
|2||tablespoons cider vinegar|
|1||tablespoon orange juice|
- Combine cornstarch, salt, if desired, orange peel, pepper and allspice in 1-quart microwavable casserole. Stir in reserved 1/3 cup beet liquid, vinegar and orange juice.
- Microwave on HIGH 1-3/4 to 2-1/2 minutes or until thickened, stirring after each minute. Add beets. Microwave on HIGH 2 to 4 minutes or until beets are thoroughly heated. Garnish as desired.
