Home-Style Cinnamon Braid
Makes 1 loaf
|1/2||cup mashed potatoes|
|1/4||cup butter, softened|
|3||cups all-purpose flour|
|1/4||cup nonfat dry milk powder|
|1-1/2||teaspoons active dry yeast|
|2/3||cup mashed potatoes|
|1/3||cup butter, softened|
|4||cups all-purpose flour|
|1/3||cup nonfat dry milk powder|
|2||teaspoons active dry yeast|
|1||tablespoon ground cinnamon|
- Measuring carefully, place all ingredients except topping ingredients in bread machine pan in order specified by owner's manual. Program dough cycle setting; press start. For 1-1/2-pound loaf, grease 8-1/2X4-1/2-inch loaf pan; set aside. For 2-pound loaf, grease 12X4-1/2-inch loaf pan; set aside.
- When cycle is complete, remove dough to lightly floured surface. If necessary, knead in additional all-purpose flour to make dough easy to handle.
- Divide dough into 3 pieces; roll each piece into 18-inch rope. Combine sugar and cinnamon in small bowl. Spray each rope with nonstick cooking spray; roll in cinnamon-sugar mixture. Braid pieces together and place in prepared loaf pan, tucking ends under. Cover with clean towel; let rise in warm, draft-free place 45 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Bake 25 to 35 minutes or until evenly browned. Remove from pan; cool on wire rack.
Home-Style Cinnamon Raisin Braid
Prepare dough as directed above through Step 2. Knead 1/2 to 3/4 cup dark raisins into dough. Continue with Step 3 as directed above.
