Lacy Tortilla Hearts

Capturing the beauty of a lacy doily, these delicate tortilla treats are the perfect ending to any meal.

Makes 4 servings
Ingredients
4 | (8-inch) flour tortillas |
3 | tablespoons butter or margarine, melted |
2 | tablespoons vegetable oil |
Powdered sugar |
Preparation
- Cut out 3/4- to 1-inch heart shapes evenly throughout tortillas; discard hearts. Place tortillas in 15X10X1-inch jelly-roll pan.
- Combine butter and oil in small bowl; pour evenly over tortillas. Let stand 15 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Place tortillas in single layer in additional jelly-roll pans or on rimmed baking sheets. Bake 7 to 10 minutes or until crisp. Place tortillas on wire racks or waxed-paper-covered baking sheets. Cool completely. Sprinkle generously with powdered sugar.
Variation
Omit powdered sugar. Combine 1 tablespoon red colored sugar with 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon; mix well. Sprinkle over warm tortillas.
