Nuoc Cham Dipping Sauce

Nuoc Cham is a traditional Vietnamese dipping sauce. You'll find a jar of it sitting on the table at any Vietnamese restaurant. It's damn tasty. This is a basic recipe; I usually eyeball it and make it to taste.


2 tbsp lime juice
2 tbsp fish sauce
1 tbsp sugar
1 clove of garlic, minced
1 fresh serrano or bird chili, sliced into tiny rings
1-3 tbsp water


  1. Mix the first five ingredients together. Add the water to taste (or omit).
