Makes about 5 dozen balls
|3||cups uncooked old-fashioned oats|
|1||cup flaked coconut|
|1||cup chopped dried mixed fruit|
|1/4||cup sunflower seeds or chopped walnuts|
|1/2||cup butter or margarine|
|6||tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder|
- Combine oats, coconut, dried fruit and sunflower seeds in large bowl; set aside. Combine sugar, milk, butter, cocoa and salt in 2-quart saucepan until blended. Heat to boiling. Boil 3 minutes, stirring constantly; remove from heat. Stir in vanilla. Pour hot sugar syrup into oat mixture; stir until well blended. When cool enough to handle, shape rounded tablespoonfuls into balls; place on waxed paper until completely cooled and firm.
