Oat & Dried Fruit Balls

Makes about 5 dozen balls
Ingredients
3 | cups uncooked old-fashioned oats |
1 | cup flaked coconut |
1 | cup chopped dried mixed fruit |
1/4 | cup sunflower seeds or chopped walnuts |
1 | cup sugar |
1/2 | cup milk |
1/2 | cup butter or margarine |
6 | tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder |
1/4 | teaspoon salt |
1 | teaspoon vanilla |
Preparation
- Combine oats, coconut, dried fruit and sunflower seeds in large bowl; set aside. Combine sugar, milk, butter, cocoa and salt in 2-quart saucepan until blended. Heat to boiling. Boil 3 minutes, stirring constantly; remove from heat. Stir in vanilla. Pour hot sugar syrup into oat mixture; stir until well blended. When cool enough to handle, shape rounded tablespoonfuls into balls; place on waxed paper until completely cooled and firm.
