Onion-Chili Relish

Makes about 1 cup


1 medium white onion
1 or 2 fresh jalapeño peppers*
3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1/4 teaspoon salt


  1. Cut onion and peppers lengthwise into halves. Remove and discard seeds from peppers. Cut onion and pepper halves lengthwise into very thin slices; separate into slivers.
  2. Combine all ingredients in small bowl; mix well. Let stand, covered, at room temperature 2 hours to blend flavors.
