Red Cabbage and Apples


Makes 4 to 6 servings


1 small head red cabbage, cored and thinly sliced
3 medium apples, peeled and grated
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup red wine vinegar
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 cup crisp-cooked and crumbled bacon (optional)
Fresh apple slices (optional)


  1. Combine cabbage, apples, sugar, vinegar and cloves in slow cooker. Cover; cook on HIGH 6 hours, stirring after 3 hours. Sprinkle with bacon, if desired. Garnish with apple slices.
