Silly Snake Sandwich
Makes about 8 small sandwiches
|8||tablespoons peanut butter, divided|
|1||loaf (1/2 pound) sliced French or Italian bread, about 11 inches long and 3 inches wide|
|1||(2-inch) red bell pepper strip|
|1||black olive, cut in half lengthwise|
|1||green olive, chopped|
|1/2||cup jelly, any flavor|
|1/4||cup marshmallow creme|
- Using 1 tablespoon peanut butter, attach first 2 inches (3 to 4 slices) bread loaf together to make snake head. Cut bell pepper into tongue shape by cutting a small triangle out of one end. (See photo.) Make very small horizontal slice in heel of bread, being careful not to cut all the way through. Place "tongue" into slice. Attach black olive slices with peanut butter to snake head for eyes. Attach 2 green olive pieces with peanut butter for nostrils. Set snake head aside.
- Combine remaining peanut butter, jelly and marshmallow creme in small bowl until smooth. Spread on half of bread slices; top with remaining bread slices.
- Place snake head on large serving tray. Arrange sandwiches in wavy pattern to resemble slithering snake. Serve immediately.
