Q. I like to drink tea, but I'm tired of having the same flavor all the time. Is there any way to liven up my favorite drink?
A. Tea is not just tea anymore. The selection is immense, including brew-your-own flavored traditional teas blended with fruit or spices, flavored herbal teas or fruity bottled cold beverages.
There are several ways to liven up your tea. You can either choose a brand that has additional flavor to it (try one with a peppermint flavor during the holidays or maybe a hint of vanilla for something a little smoother).
If you like your tea slightly bitter or with a bite to it, stick to the herbal teas, such as Chai or various green teas. If you like the aroma of an herbal tea but don't like how strong it is, try brewing it with fewer tea leaves or take the bag out sooner. You can also mellow out your beverage by adding a little milk and sugar to your tea. You can also add a slice of lemon to your herbal tea, adding a little extra vitamin C in with all the antioxidants already present in many teas.
Whether you want to grow your own tea at home, learn about the many different types of tea, or just try something new during tea time, enjoying tea can be beneficial for both your mind and body. It's a great way to relax and warm you from the inside out on a cold day and it is also a great alternative to coffee if you want a little caffeine.
