Makes 4 large or 6 regular servings
|1/2||to 3/4 cup mayonnaise|
|1-1/2||teaspoons dried tarragon leaves|
|1||teaspoon bottled minced garlic|
|1||loaf (16 ounces) Italian or French bread, cut in half lengthwise|
|2||medium tomatoes, thinly sliced|
|1||to 2 ounces (1/4 to 1/2 cup) thinly sliced red onion|
|2||cups chopped romaine lettuce|
|6||ounces thinly sliced deli roast beef|
|6||ounces thinly sliced deli smoked turkey|
|6||ounces sliced smoked provolone or Monterey Jack cheese with hot peppers|
- Combine mayonnaise, tarragon, garlic and salt in small bowl; stir until well blended.
- Spread mayonnaise mixture evenly over cut sides of both bread halves.
- Layer bottom half of bread with tomatoes, onion, lettuce, roast beef, turkey and cheese. Cover with top half of bread; press down gently. Slice diagonally into 4 or 6 sandwiches.
